While there are other instructors who reference “art” in their workshops or classes, Tempest is a life-long, fully trained professional visual artist and designer in addition to being a world-renown professional dancer. Tempest received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the top art school in the US – the Rhode Island School of Design, and has been attending art and design programs since the age of 3, including Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown, NJ, Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, PA, and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts. She has taught high school through college/adult classes & workshops in the visual arts – in addition to the hundreds of groundbreaking dance workshops she has taught all over the world.
Nathaniel Johnstone is a world-class multi-instrumentalist (violin, viola, mandolin, guitar, banjo) and composer, with a degree in music and focus in education. The majority of his work has been inspired by and created for dancers. His talents allow for the unique opportunity for MQ students to have music created on the spot for them, and to get a grounded, balanced perspective from a professional musician.
Together Tempest & Nathaniel offer students a complete, safe experience that enables them to fully explore and dynamically transform their dance, all in a positive, supportive, classroom environment.
